J.R.R. Tolkien's Medieval Mythology

Presented by Professor Joyce Coleman, University of Oklahoma Rudolph C. Bambas Professor of Medieval English Literature & Culture and Director of the Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies. The Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series is Co-sponsored by OU's Center for Medieval & Renaissance Studies.

"Millions of people now know J.R.R. Tolkien as the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Far fewer know that his "day job" was teaching Anglo-Saxon and Medieval Literature at Oxford University. This talk will explore how Tolkien built Middle Earth out of his fascination with language and with medieval and heroic texts—mixed in with his own personal history."

Come learn more about the middle ages just for the fun of learning!
No papers, no tests, just interesting information about life long ago.
