Medieval Fair of Norman Kicks Off Free Online Lecture Series with a Discussion of Tolkien's Mythology
Join us for a free virtual lecture series hosted on Zoom and led by esteemed University of Oklahoma professors!
The pandemic may have knocked us back for one semester, but medievalists don’t give up easily! We are happy to return with an array of our greatest hits, plus a special panel discussion on the Black Death.
The first zoom lecture will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, and will explore how Tolkien built the Middle Earth out of his own fascination with language and medieval texts and history – mixed with his personal experiences fighting on the Somme in World War I. The lecture will be led by Joyce Coleman, OU English professor.
This spring, you can enjoy free, entertaining, educational talks on fascinating subjects from the comfort of your own home. Lectures will be held on the last Friday of the month, Jan. 29, Feb. 26, March 26 and April 30.
